Award-winning Costume Design in character-driven visual storytelling

Majdnem menyasszony

The arrival of the railway in a quiet Hungarian town at the turn of the century turns Marika’s life upside down. For this romantic film, I was awarded the Hungarian Cinema Award for Best Costume Design in 2024.

Set in 1905, the film gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of turn-of-the-century fashion: the last moments of hats, lace, corsets, floor-length skirts, and wasp waists before the roaring 1920s, when women began their path to independence. For me, it was a ceremonial moment to pause for a heartbeat and pay tribute to the romantic past. As a costume designer, this was a beautiful and inspiring period to work in.
